Rule Changes:
The Faction War continues to change. With those changes comes updates. It has been a vision of mine that this faction war could be used by everyone that plays Mech Warrior. I see that dream slowly becoming a reality. In order for that to occur we've come up with some pretty good changes. They simplyfy and streamline the rules.
To that end there will be a new rule book, and it will be up shortly. That rule book will not be the final one but it will get us through the next month or two.
Roughly the changes are as follows:
1) You need to choose a new army
2) That army may only consist of 10 Mechs, 20 Vehicles, and 20 Infantry
3) The rule of one U/Le per army stands but the restriction of only one person may field a particular unit has been lifted. Yep, so if everyone was playing Republic and they all wanted to field Levin...they could. (cheers all around).
4) Those of you that won units to your army make a note that that unit was won by you and you'll get to keep it.
5) If you won a U/Le you may go over the alloted 1, but must keep that unit you won or not take it.
6) There will be a Military budget for each person of $200,000.00
That military budget will be used soley for Mercenaries. To recruit a mercenary you will "Pay to have the contract written". To have a contract written it costs the build total for that month (say 750...like this months) * 10. So if you wanted Mercs in your army this month it'd cost you $7,500.00. You may recruit ANY mercenary unit to your army for that cost. GS Pilots cost an aditional fee. They cost the amount of their prefered mech cost * 500. Eg. Scott Graves in his prefered mech costs 32 points in his prefered mech. That means that he'll cost you $16,000.00 to hire for the month. You must pay for each GS pilot you hire so if you hire 5 GS's then you'd pay for each of them, in their prefered mech * 500.
8) We will be establishing Faction Goals (since no one seems to have stood up and decided what they want to do). Those faction goals will be listed on the website. Each tournament win you get gives your faction a win. At the end of the Faction War the Faction that won the most wins the tournament. That faction's players then will win the Faction War. Out of that player pool the player that did the best will then be accorded the win for the Faction War. There will be 2nd and 3rd place winners.
9) Now's the time to choose a new faction if you want one.
That sums up most of the changes.
Send me your new army lists.
Q: No mention of Faction Pride cards?
A: Faction Pride Cards are available and will be handled as per the AoD rules. If your mission allows for a 600pt build and you wish to use a Faction Pride then you will deduct the cost from your build total for that mission.
Q. How do captured pieces relate to the faction War? Does it only count toward VC, or will it do that plus render those pieces as damaged or no longer usable?
A: Capturing will be accorded a kill status, if the captive unit is captured when the the round ends. If a unit remains captured at the round's end it adds (1) to the cumulative kill total for the tournament. Treat Capture as normal during the event. The unit is not removed from the players army unless it meet the proper kill qualifications.
Q. How does bypass fit in relation to the above question?
A: Bypass will be accorded a kill status, as such it adds to the cumulative kill total for a tournament. Treat Bypass as normal during the event. The unit is not removed from the players army unless it meets the proper kill qulifications.
