Ok, well its too bad I could not make this weeks event...but I will def be at the next event.
Finished totally my sisters army, and I have about 1k points atm. This is with a unit of grey knights though (love the models and story).
I think when we start playing everyone should have to name thier HQ and come up with some sort of backstory for em.' Might be fun.
As far as playing and painting...remember people, that painting is not necessarily about having a drool worthy army. This game is about having fun! You will see my army (when I remember to bring it) is actually fairly quickley done just to get a uniform feel to it and make it stand out. The truly hard done paintjobs are on the character models. You don't have to be an expert painter to be good at it, I have been complemented by my people just because I stuck with a set paint scheme and did not vary the troops.
And on that note, based on the new SM chapter that some guy made up...I am changing mine. My original Sisters order was named Tears of the Emporer...but somehow this guy not only used the same name...but an almost exactly same color scheme!! So...I have made a new back story and a new order name...introducing:
Sisters of Sorcere
I will post more on the backstory and the interesting characters later, but basically thier name stems from this: most orders are against the witch and psykers...however like the grey knights, the sisters of Sorcere have raised many powerful psykers into prominence, most of them joining the ordo malleus or ordo hereticus as inquisitors. In fact, my character for the game, Sister Inquisitor Cree Angelfire is exactly that! I will post more about her sometime down the line (its quite an interesting story)
Anywho...thats the important thing to remember, focus on the army, not on the painting! If you keep your story in mind when painting, the character will develop naturally. Character is not developed by great painters, great painters are developed by great characters.
