Hello,
So, I am trying to figure out how we recruit. I see we get different dollar amounts... is the normal cost of each figure their standard amount??
Do I put in that I want the Super Buddies (as an example) and I now have to buy guys from team only.... or did I just buy that team???
If I am going for the big spender category of $5000 because I want guys from across the universes (universi??) do I then just start to pick random guys.
If I pick Superman... do I pick a particular one. Is he off limits to other people? Is just that level off limits?
I'm confused!!

Hello, So, I am trying to figure out how we recruit. I see we get different dollar amounts... is the normal cost of each figure their standard amount?? Hey Dan. I'll try to help out with what I've found here too - but I'm a newb as well. This might help with recruitment costs questions: www.htcldarkside.proboards67.com/index.cgi?board=rulesquestions&action=display&thread=1166682194Do I put in that I want the Super Buddies (as an example) and I now have to buy guys from team only.... or did I just buy that team??? You list your top 5 teams, being as specific as possible. You will have to run your desired roster by the Game Designers (post-draft, if necessary). The roster is what you use to decide who will be on your team for any given tournament, which can have varying build totals from scenario to scenario. You have to pay to recruit figs from the roster via payment to actually be able to use them. Once you've paid them a salary or however you want to look at it, they're available - unless they get hospitalized or captured or something else. That payment cost is covered in the rulebook. You don't have to pay for your entire roster right away, nor do you have to use your entire roster on any team you build. Some figs will remain on the bench depending on the tournament and what you can fit in the build total. Go here for more info on the team choice. www.htcldarkside.proboards67.com/index.cgi?board=rulesquestions&action=display&thread=1166328065&page=1#1166644240 Go to the post where they list "TIES and other stuff" as the title. It's the 4th post. If I am going for the big spender category of $5000 because I want guys from across the universes (universi??) do I then just start to pick random guys. I'm assuming you read this thread: www.htcldarkside.proboards67.com/index.cgi?board=hctwfaq&action=display&thread=1165964809Personally, I think that's a little too cheap unless you MULTIPLY that cost in. (it says add on that post - i could be reading it wrong) For example - your team is bad guys from Marvel. you try to get KC Supes on the roster. He's 265 pts. Normally, he's a cost of 265,000 (265pts * 1000 credits). However, since he's Cross Universe, opposite alignment if you had to MULTIPLY his point cost by $5,000 that would be better (265pts * 5,000 credits = $1,325,000) If I pick Superman... do I pick a particular one. Is he off limits to other people? Is just that level off limits? CLICK HERE to this post about highlander rules: Again, I'm not one of the two Game Designers (who have done an awesome job thus far). I think if we keep bringing up intelligent questions, and make fair requests and/or suggestions on adjusting or ammending the rules as we go, this could be something really great.

I updated the cost chart for cross-universe, different alignment, not on team. It adds to the cost considerably now...which it should.
Pretty much all that icexman said.
And thanks! All the questions, thus far, have been great. As you build the rules one doesn't always see all the loopholes or issues. We are trying to make this a fun scenario and take the heat off the competition a bit while adding to the overall experience...I hope it works...and we will correct as we go as this is the 1st go round of thos system for HeroClix.

Thanks guys... This is my bad. I had downloaded the rules and forgot to read it.
I now get the recruitment. I will be checking the rest of the board, I see a post in December that says the experience mod. chart is being removed for recruitment purposes. If I don't find my answers, I will post again.
This should be a lot of fun. RavenProject and IceXMan had some year long stats records for people to compete for prizes, but envolving themes and scenerios is even more fun.

I notice that the experience was not removed from the rule book. Also the way the rules read it seems that feats are bought for characters and then used for a single game. Does this mean that if I am read Squaron Supreme team I have to buy the Squaron Supreme card for each character for each game they use it?

Maybe I took it wrong but it seems to me, and maybe it's because I'm tired, but the way you phrased that. It didn't sit well with me, felt like you were nagging. Experiance Ring multiplier was never intended to be removed from the point calculation. Yes Feats are just that, single shot. Only for the character you purchase them for. Squadron Supreme Team question is one for Darius_Dax1 since I'm not sure. But off the top of my head I'd say yes. But he'll know better than me. Thanks, Karl

Here it is:
- Experience Ring Multiplier is Not to be used.
- Feats are purchased for EACH piece and usable for that piece for the duration of THIS Team War.
- Feats are purchased as training for your pieces.
- Feats do not have to be re-purchased once you have them. (But must be purchased for each character that will be using them - RF)
*Example: for IC Wolverine. If you want to use Automatic Regeneration for Wolverine and you have recruited all 5 versions you would need to purchase AR for EACH version. (R/E/V/U/LE)

You told us weeks ago that the Experience Ring modifier was going to be removed, even going so far as to sticky the post... First off I have to appologize for my most recent post (see above). As it has been pointed out I'm only human. I do a ton of work but we all make mistakes. I'd forgotten that Dave and I had discussed this and we both ended up agreeing that it had to go. When I read Paulhill's reply...IDK I took it wrong. I've been ill and I quit smoking nine days ago. I've not been sleeping well, and so I got a tiny bit punchy. I also had to send my son home to his mother, school started . Couple all that together and I forgot...sorry. I've update the rules again. So the latest version is 1.6. I hope that incorporates all the changes that should be in it. (crosses fingers). Have you changed your mind on this? If so, why, and why wait 'til now to inform us? Nope, haven't changed my mind. The cost for experiance is gone. What's concerning us is the declaration that we can only use a Feat in one game after purchase, and must repurchase it for future games. Dave told us some time ago about the "total" rules for Feats. Again, I'm curious as to why the change was made, and why it wasn't announced sooner. After a lengthy discussion w/ Dax this morning I've seen the light and have made Feats permanant, once purchased. And then there's something cool that's new...go check out the rules. - Karl

OK, I'm reading 1.6 now. I just want to confirm this. According to what I think I'm reading, it now costs 4 times as much to get a character out of the hospital as it does to recruit him in the first place. So, in the case of generic figures, it makes almost no sense to ever heal any troopers. Does Colonel Fury at least visit them in the hospital?

No wonder the guys at WK pull their hair out! ya'll I'll just FAQ the Hosptial stuff. Yes, this is why. I've designed a few campaigns in my time. It's extremely difficult to plug all the holes, especially when economics are in play. I do appreciate the effort you're making. As a hint perhaps a complete table listing all of the costs for everything is in order. That way there's only one place to look and you can do a 'sanity check' a little easier.

Actually I was going to add that very table to the back of the book along with an index...but I ran out of time. I'm hoping it'll be in version 1.7...it'd better be Or I'll have to have a very stern talk with the game designers! ;D
